The Estonian classification system
The classification system is based on a 1-5 star rating of the hotels and 1-3 star rating of the motels.
The Estonian system is voluntary.
The Estonian classification system of hotels and motels is handeled by the Estonian Hotel and Restaurant Association, the conformity of an hotels and motels to the stars requirements shall be assessed by a Classification Committee to be formed by the Board of the EHRA.
Examples of the requirements for the various star ratings:
* star
Single rooms min. 9 m2, double rooms min. 12 m2 (applicable for minimum of 70 % rooms). All rooms have bath/shower and toilet in the room. Access to the hotel is possible around the clock, manned reception desk min. 7.00-23.00. Breakfast is offered, beverages available. One towel and one bath towel per person.

Elevator, if the hotel has 4 or more storeys. Non- smoking rooms (min. 10 %). A telephone is available.
***star
Single rooms min. 10 m2, double rooms min. 14 m2. Round-the-clock reception. Computer with Internet access is available to the guests. TV in all rooms. Restaurant. Breakfast can be served in the guest rooms. Room service for hot meals min. 12 hours.
****star
Single rooms min. 12 m2, double rooms min. 17 m2. Elevator, if the hotel has 3 or more storeys. Comfortable chairs in the rooms. Room service for hot meals min. 16 hours. TV with international channels and movie channel. Minibar in all rooms. Internet readiness in all rooms. Two towels and one bath towel per person.

Single rooms min 14 m2, double rooms min. 23 m2. Min. 2 armchairs or o sofa in all rooms. Room service for hot meals 24 hours. Indoor swimming pool or fitness centre (for hotels of more than 50 rooms). A la carte restaurant open min. 7.00-23.00. Bathrobe and large selection of toilet articles. Re-sheeting daily. |
